| MASSAGE OILS |
| Aromatherapy is an ancient art practiced for centuries. Aromatic oils are blended in with base oils, and either massaged onto the body, or added as perfumed oils in the bath water. They are sometimes even burned on burners so that the smell or the aroma exuded, affects the olfactory system. The fascinating aspect of aromatherapy is the influence of aroma on the mind and emotions. Odoriferous substances, such as essential oils, throw off molecules |

which are detected by the olfactory cells in the upper part of the nose. These cells are specialized sensory neurons embedded in the mucous membrane, each of which connects directly with the brain by means of a long nerve fibre. The brain associated with smell is very closely connected with the limbic area of the brain which is concerned with our most subtle responses such as emotion, memory, and intuition. The aromatherapy oils can be used as therapy for a lot of acute ailments, where a massage not only helps penetration of the oils into the body, but the scent of the oils has a profound effect in the body systems. They are widely used in cosmetics and beauty products around the world.
Precautions need to be taken with certain oils when using them. Please ask an expert for good advice, at any of our stores. |
